The Three Little Pigs

A fun little fable about three pigs who build three houses of different materials before they are challenged by a big bad wolf.

Read The Three Little Pigs

Once upon a time there was a Mummy Pig with three little piggies who had all grown up and were ready to build a house of their own to live in.

The first piggy went off and bought a bundle of straw to build her house.

Before she knew it, along came a Wolf who knocked at the door and said, “Little Pig, little Pig, let me in!”

The little piggy answered, “No, not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.”

“Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in!” said the Wolf. So he huffed, and he puffed, and he blew her house in. The little pig was so frightened she ran back to her mummy’s house.

The second piggy went off and bought a bundle of sticks to build her house.

Before she knew it, along came a Wolf who knocked at the door, and said, “Little Pig, little Pig, let me in!”

The little piggy answered, “No, not by the hair of my chinny chin chin!”

“Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in!” said the Wolf. So he huffed, and he puffed, and he blew her house in. The little pig was so frightened she too ran back to her mummy’s house.

The third little piggy decided to build her house out of something much stronger. So off she went to buy some bricks and built her house she did.

It took her a long time to build her house but when it was done it was a fine, strong and comfortable house. The little piggy lied down the first evening for some rest when she heard a knock on her front door.

“Little Pig, little Pig, let me in!” Cried the wolf.

“No, not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.”

“Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in!”

Well, he huffed and he puffed, and he huffed and he puffed, he also puffed and he huffed! But he could not get the house to move. The big bad wolf realised it was not possible and walked away in a huff.

The little piggy sat and thought about the extra work she had put in to build her house, after all, bricks are much heavier than straw or sticks. Over the next few days her two sisters came over for a sleepover and they lived happily ever after.
